He says his goodbyes, sending Luigi away. Mario states that he needs to stay behind to prevent the curse from spreading or attaching itself to Alice. Luigi wakes up in a white space, with Mario in front of him. Determined to prevent anyone else from getting hurt, Mario uses his body as a host for the curse in an effort to save everyone. Mario defeats Alice, but is overtaken by the curse. The player must land on the green part for the attack to land, with Alice doing the same, although there is high likelihood of her attacks missing. A bar appears, most of it being red, with a small section of green, and a yellow arrow moving across the bar. The boss battle uses a target system, with the player having to fill up their gauge of holy water. Mario hears the voice of Marchionne, not knowing who he is, telling him to use the holy water. In the remastered version, Alice teleports Mario to an unknown location, challenging him to a final showdown. Luigi doesn't remember yesterday's events but somehow gets a feeling his heard Mario's name before. Luigi doesn't understand and Peach recalls him going crazy over someone named Mario. The next morning Princess Peach visits Luigi and tells him the doctor is ready. Later that night, Mario's spirit enters Luigi's room in his sleep and removes all memories of his own existence, figuring this was best for Luigi to forget all about him. Soon he realizes all the photos of Mario disappears one by one. Luigi rushes out to his room to prove of Mario's existence by searching through his photos. She believes Luigi has gone crazy and suggests, a doctor has a look at him. Luigi asks her where his brother Mario is, but the princess responds with having no idea who Mario is, and that Luigi has never had a brother. He and wakes up in Princess Peach's castle with Princess Peach sitting right next to him. Mario disappears into the darkness with Alice and knocking Luigi out again. Luigi objects to Mario's idea, but Mario's has already made his decision and bids Luigi farewell by telling him to watch over the Mushroom Kingdom and Princess Peach. Mario believes the only way to stop her is to provide her with a host to contain her spirit before it spreads throughout the Mushroom Kingdom, with that host being his own body. Luigi regains conscious after the battle is over and notices Alice's spirit begins to grow out of control. The player is required to fill a gauge 3 times to defeat her. When Luigi tries to confront Alice by questioning her, Mario warns Luigi to get away from her, but Luigi is soon knocked unconscious in the process, and Mario must face her alone. Mario and Luigi confront Alice in the rooftop of her home, with a dead corpse of Riba. Taking upstairs will lock the player into the Omitted Memory route.
